The word kyanite comes from the Greek "kyanos" which means deep blue. In ancient times, this stone was used to follow the magnetic force of the Earth by hanging from a hair, like a compass needle. Thus, travelers took it with them when they went to unknown lands. There are several shades of cyanite, ranging from blue to green. Here, we find the "mermaid" cyanite.
