The name Alakai (in Hawaiian ala.kaʻi) means path that leads to the sea or one that shows the way. The story goes that it was while researching her future travel destination, Hawaii, that designer Marie-Hélène Anctil recognized herself in the values of the Hawaiian people. She was particularly challenged by the meaning of the name Alakai, used in the Hawaiian language to designate empathetic leadership, one who shows the way by setting an example. A short word evoking the passion for travel and the humanist values that inhabit the designer - this is how the Alakai brand was born.
Through the creations of Alakai is transmitted the desire to transport you to these islands known as a paradise of the art of living (music, dance, surfing) and which bring together many spiritual people who are open to the world.
